Jaime Rodriguez plays the music of his homeland—Perú—with spirit, joy, and remarkable technical skill.
Rodriguez has 20 years of work under his belt promoting the music from the Altiplano in countries like Germany, Poland, France, Canada, USA, Taiwan, and part of South America. He has been researching the old music of the South American region of Collasuyu. Through this research, he learned to play different wind instruments, which made him more curious about the music of his ancesters. He continues his research and to apply new styles and techniques to Andean instruments in an effort to find the real sound of the music of the Altiplano.
This class will include discussion of:
- Andrean rhythms
- The difference between Latin and Andean music
- Andean wind, percussion, and string instruments
