Cettina Donato is an Italian piano player and composer. She was born in Messina, Sicily, and attended the conservatory in Reggio Calabria, where she studied classical music and composition. She also received a degree in jazz from the Conservatory of Messina.
In 2008, she attended the Umbria Jazz Clinics in Perugia where she was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee. Cettina was nominated as New Italian Jazz Musician in 2009. Her first CD, Pristine, contains her own compositions and arrangements.
As a Berklee student, Donato has worked as a tutor and student ambassador. She is a piano accompanist for Berklee in Italy (Umbria Jazz Festival) and also plays with Berklee faculty at the Umbria Jazz Festival. She has played several concerts at Berklee as a band leader and a composer. Cettina received the Carla Bley Award offered by the Jazz Composition Department and she composed and performed a track on the recent CD release by Jazz Revelation Records.
