Join us at the opening concert of the new Jazz at the Arsenal series featuring Berklee faculty musicians. The Bruce Gertz Quintet consists of the great Jerry Bergonzi on sax, Phil Grenadier on trumpet, Steve Hunt on keyboard, Austin McMahon on drums, and, of course, Bruce Gertz on bass.
Gertz has been one of the most respected bass player/teachers in the Boston area for decades. His performances and educational clinics have taken him around the world, and he has shared the stage with such luminaries as Gil Evans, Dave Brubeck, Lee Konitz, Cab Calloway, Gary Burton, and many others, including the great Jerry Bergonzi who will perform with Gertz for this concert. Gertz's publications include 22 Contemporary Melodic Studies for Electric Bass, Mastering the Bass, volumes 1 and 2, and Let's Play Rhythm. His recent albums include It Wasn't Me and Reptilian Fantasies.
