Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra - The Music of Dayna Stephens
The BCJO is composed of 19 young talents at the college. In addition to playing music by great jazz masters like Duke Ellington, Bob Brookmeyer, and McCoy Tyner, each semester the group debuts a brand new repertoire of original student compositions that bend the jazz canon and utilize the many colors of a big band in new ways.
Director Greg Hopkins, a professor of jazz composition and a jazz trumpeter with Buddy Rich and Dizzy Gillespie, will lead this amazing ensemble. Like Berklee itself, the band represents a true melting pot of rich musical talent from around the world, fusing international and regional musical styles. The Great Hall concert will also feature a leading jazz soloist drawn from the ranks of Berklee's distinguished list of alumni.
