This year's Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival kicks off on Thursday, September 25 at Cafe 939 with a special warm-up concert featuring performances by artists on Berklee's student-run Jazz Revelation Records. Free CDs and food will be provided. Tickets are $10 and available at the door only (no pre-sale).

Drum Summit

This concert showcases two of the most explosive and exciting drummers in contemporary music, Terri Lyne Carrington and Cindy Blackman. These two Berklee alumnae have between them amassed amazing discographies ranging from Herbie Hancock to Lenny Kravitz. Each will showcase her own ensembles and special guests will include pianists/keyboardists Geri Allen and Patrice Rushen; jazz/funk guitarist and composer David Gilmore, a Berklee professor; and brilliant, young saxophonist Tineke Postma from Holland. Tickets: $40, $30, reserved seating
