Saul Williams / DJ Carbo

Saul Williams’s early success as a poet has led to collaborations with the likes of Erykah Badu, Nas, the Roots and Zack De La Rocha, and descended as much from KRS One and Public Enemy as from Allen Ginsberg and Amiri Baraka. In 2011, Williams released his fourth studio album, Volcanic Sunlight. DJ Carbo will open the show.

Trails and Ways have a bossa nova-dream pop sound. The two female and two male members of the band all sing, braiding their voices down landscapes of tight percussion, reverbed guitar hooks, and tidal synthesizers. Covey Clough will be opening the show.

Brendan James / Jesse Ruben

Brendan James, a singer-songwriter who accompanies himself on piano, has been called “a songwriter on the rise” by Entertainment Weekly. He constructed an 18-month tour in support of his debut album, The Day Is Brave, which was released by Decca Records in 2008 and placed in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. James and his producer, Warren Huart (Augustana, the Fray, Howie Day), pushed the envelope in 2010 in terms of tempo and production. They emerged with a second album that kept the spotlight on James’s emotionally resonant voice and expressive piano playing. Jesse Ruben, a Philadelphia-bred singer-songwriter, will open the show.

The Field Effect / Old Jack / Nate Leavitt

The Field Effect packs a collective punch with songs spiked with introspective lyrics, infectious melodies, and ferocious rhythms. Since forming in 2011, the band has received rave reviews for both its energetic live show and for its debut studio release. Old Jack and Nate Leavitt will open the show.

Lily and the Parlour Tricks influences range from the Andrews Sisters to T. Rex to 19th century murder songs, with roots planted firmly in the smoky back room of classic rock 'n' roll. The Nat Osborn Band combines Osborn’s raspy vocals and euphoric hooks with dangerously tight rhythm section and powerful three-piece horn section. Jay Stolar is a soul singer with an arsenal of heart-gripping songs.
