New England Opera Intensive

Join us for an evening of traditional and contemporary opera scenes performed by the participants of the second season of the New England Opera Intensive. Our singers have been studying the craft and techniques of performing opera throughout a three-week intensive course of classes, workshops, and rehearsals. This program is the culmination of their study. All scenes will be fully staged and costumed.

Ron Reid directs this combined faculty/student ensemble, which blends Afro-Cuban, reggae, R&B, and soca into an infectious mix of improvisation and danceable grooves. The program will feature originals, traditional Caribbean music, and popular songs arranged for Caribbean jazz-fusion ensemble.
