This clinic will focus on developing speed on the guitar through specific legato and picking-friendly approaches for the left hand as well as several righthand picking techniques, including alternate, sweep, economy, hybrid, and finger picking. Next, the clinic will examine the minimum velocity required for "out'' playing, and the application of several atonal and polytonal techniques.

In classical music, much as in jazz, the composer has been the performer, creating the works and bringing them to life. Continuing in that tradition, this concert presents works by performing composers and works specifically composed for this recital by the performers, as well as contemporary works by Leonard Bernstein and others. Faculty clarinetist Jeri Sykes and pianist David McGrory are featured.
