Nando Michelin: Candombe and the Music of Hugo Fattoruso

A band of Berklee faculty and students will perform the music of Hugo Fattoruso, who incorporated candombe in a jazz and rock setting through his iconic and internationally acclaimed band, Opa. Nando Michelin, assistant professor in Berklee’s Piano Department, will explain the basic roles and origins of the different drums in candombe, the most important Afro-Uruguayan rhythm.
