Two public concerts in Marchone on the East Coast and one on the Westwere the high points of this year's effort to raise funds and awareness for the Wes Wehmiller Endowed Memorial Scholarship. Wehmiller '92, a rock bassist who died in 2005, was a member of Duran Duran and Missing Persons after attending Berklee. Among the performers were alumnus Stu Hamm '80 (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani) and faculty bassist Danny Morris (Bo Diddley, Robin Ford).
For the second year in a row, fund-raising for the scholarship took place at the WesFest benefit concert, held at the Gig in Los Angeles on Tuesday, March 6. Bassist Stu Hamm will headline; other performers included guitarist Mike Keneally and the very first Wes Wehmiller Scholarship recipient, Will Snyder.
This year's Wes Wehmiller scholar, Claire Finley, opened the Danny Mo Jam on Wednesday, March 14, at Berklee. Wehmiller's former teacher, and close friend, Danny Morris performed with both faculty and student groups. Other faculty members on the bill were Thaddeus Hogarth, Matt Jenson, and Matt Marvuglio.
