Susan Tedeschi Band and The Derek Trucks Band
October 26, 2006 (Tickets go on sale August 5)Blues and roots music are at the core of this rare double bill featuring alumna Susan Tedeschi and her husband, Derek Trucks. Both musicians will lead their respective bands at the Berklee Performance Center in the second show of the 200607 Berklee Concert Series, on Thursday, October 26, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, which range in price from $55.00 to $30.50, go on sale on August 5 and may be purchased at the Berklee box office, through the Ticketmaster website, or by calling 617-931-2000.
Tedeschi, a Grammy-nominated singer, guitarist, and songwriter who graduated from Berklee in 1991, recently released her fourth record, Hope and Desire, a collection of soul and gospel tunes written by artists such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Donny Hathaway. Equally expressive as a vocalist and guitarist, Tedeschi offers on her new disc unique interpretations of great, but little-known compositions. The Derek Trucks Band blends a range of styles, including jazz, blues, Latin, rock, and Eastern Indian, all of it focused around the group's improvisations. Trucks's searing sound and virtuosic innovations made him the youngest player to make the Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list.
