Latin music and culture, always vibrant and visible at Berklee, will be a bit more so in the middle of November, as students present the 5th annual Latin Culture Week.
Organized by Shin Arikita and Natalia Bernal, along with a committee of students, Latin Culture Week will feature a series of concerts and clinics showcasing the depth and diversity of Latin American musical expression.
Among the highlights of Latin Culture Week 2004 open to the public are a faculty showcase, with groups led by faculty members Mili Bermejo and Oscar Stagnaro; a Tribute to the Mambo Kings with Equie Castrillos Palladium Night Orchestra; a concert with jazz harpist Edgar Castañeda; a clinic with pianist and composer Leo Blanco; and Axé Bahia, a concert of music from northeast Brazil. You'll even get a chance to test your footwork at a Salsa Dance Party. For a full listing of public events, read the schedule below. For more information, please call 617 747-2411.
