Berklee's first symphony orchestra stretches the limits with a mix of multimedia, film, and music. With New Directions, music is written specifically for this orchestra of 80 members. The BCSO kicks off its inaugural concert with the world premiere of Stephen Webber's piece for narrator, turntables and orchestra along with a staged scene from the opera Hostage by Sam Headrick and Craig Wich. Other musical highlights include Bernstein (Slava), Stravinsky (Firebird), and John Williams (ET). Student concerto, composition, and conductor winners will also be featured.
