This is a course for non-percussion principals focusing on binary (2/4, 4/4) and ternary (12/8) rhythm structures from Ghana, Brazil, Cuba, and India. Includes hands-on playing of ensemble instruments (bell, shakers, drums), singing traditional songs, and developing independence using harmonic time (stepping with ankle bells, sticking patterns, and drum vocables). Indian rhythms are applied to the tar frame drum.
