Throughout the year, the Career Development Center hosts various programs and events, including workshops, auditions with numerous entertainment companies, and presentations from industry professionals on resume preparation, freelancing advice, assembling electronic press kits, and marketing your music projects.

Private Music Teaching

September 23, 2014 (7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) in the Loft

Vocalist Melissa Blasek, a Berklee alumna, will present an overview of the private music teaching scene in New England, including the challenges inherent in home studio teaching, working with small community music schools, and online marketing.

Igniting Your Future: The New Generation of Audio Production Careers

October 14, 2014 (7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.) in the Loft

Martin Dombey presents the wide range of career tracks for students with audio engineering backgrounds, from recording engineer to remote broadcast audio mixer to pro audio technical writer to audio software designer and beyond. Dombey has advised the Rochester Institute of Technology on its audio engineering curriculum and has been involved in a broad array of audio projects.

Landing Sponsorship and Endorsement Deals

November 4, 2014 (7:00 p.m.) in the Loft

Ravi teaches how to find the right match in sponsors and secure desirable artist endorsement deals. He outlines effective marketing proposals and the mutual expectations and responsibilities of both the artist and product manufacturer. Ravi has performed original music globally on the stages of Letterman and Saturday Night Live as well as at Madison Square Garden, the Louisiana Superdome, and the White House. He writes articles on entrepreneurship for magazines such as Electronic Musician.

Cedar Point On-Campus Auditions

Ohio’s Cedar Point is the number-one rated amusement park in the world and the second oldest amusement park in North America, dating back to 1870. The classic amusement park and resort on the shores of Lake Erie features more than 150 rides, shows, and attractions.

Social Media Strategies for Musicians

December 4, 2014 (6:00 p.m. –8:00 p.m.) in the Berklee library

Co-sponsored by the Learning Center, this presentation will give an overview of social media promotion for musicians. Topics will include which new platforms are most promising, how to get the message out without over-saturating your followers, and time-saving shortcuts for making various platforms work together.
