We believe there are established granting
sources to enable us to expand core programs
into markets we would not otherwise be
able to serve. We see these as valuable
ways of expanding the scope of the Berklee
experience and of increasing institutional
visibility, but we do not expect to devote
institutional funding to these ventures.

Promote music technology education. Establish an institute devoted to the promotion of teaching music through technology. |
|
|
Berklee
has received a grant from the Department
of Education to create a program for
teaching high school music educators
how to better use technology. There
is opportunity to create national
standards that will positively impact
the way technology is used in music
classrooms. |
Suggestions from the community that
helped shape this initiative:
- consider establishment of music
technology research facility
- investigate extension programs/continuing
education

Expand City Music. Expand access to City Music Program to students in major urban areas beyond Boston.
|
|
|
Berklee
City Music is a very successful program
for Boston high school students interested
in music. It provides mentoring, Saturday
school programs, and scholarships
to Berklee summer and full-time programs.
City Music receives significant financial
support from local foundations. This
program could potentially be expanded
to provide similar opportunities to
students in other urban areas. |
Suggestions from the community that
helped shape this initiative:
- build on special program success
- build on success of City Music
programs
