In June 2004, the biannual BIN Summit Meeting was held at Koyo Conservatory in Kobe, Japan. Also, throughout 2006, Berklee will be utilizing its BIN partners to help in two important new initiatives:
- The first study abroad program for Berklee students will be presented as a collaboration between Berklee and the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens. The plan calls for 10 Berklee students and one faculty to spend the spring semester 2006 at Nakas Conservatory where the existing Curriculum Transfer Agreement will allow this semester to be fully credited for Berklee students.
- In support of the initiative to interview/audition all Berklee applicants, all BIN partners will be asked to help the college stage applicant auditions as a part of annual BIN visits.

Progress as of August 2004
In Spring 2004, Berklee initiated the Newpark Music Center, Dublin, Ireland, into the Berklee International Network (BIN) which, at present, lacks a member from the United Kingdom area. Newpark is now recognized as the most dynamic institution in Ireland for the study of contemporary music. The academic director is Ronin Guilfoyle, generally recognized as a most important performer, composer and educator in Ireland, the European Union, and throughout the international music scene.
Other potential BIN members are being considered. Presently, Berklee is in the fourth year of academic interaction with the Instituto de Musica Contemporanea at La Universidad de San Francisco in Quito, Ecuador. This private school, which is directed by a Berklee alumnus, is sending Berklee two or three students every year. The Instituto was added as a curriculum transfer partner with Berklee in Spring 2004, which may lead to BIN membership in the future. Additionally, college representatives are to make an investigative visit to the Music Academie International in Nancy, France. This is a school that emphasizes a pop/rock, music technology and music business curriculum which would not be in conflict with the college’s present BIN partner in Paris (American School of Modern Music) with its singular emphasis on jazz performance and composition.
Curriculum transfer agreements made during the past two years include schools in Seoul, São Paulo, Mexico City, and Tokyo.
Connected office includes Student Affairs, for the effect of this initiative on admissions and financial aid areas.

Progress as of August 2003
The Berklee International Network group has reached a satisfactory operating size and Berklee staff are fully occupied with this group for the present. While curriculum transfer agreements are being considered for some BIN members, no further activity has taken place on this initiative in the involvement of high school programs.
Progress
as of August 2002
Planning will be undertaken during the 2002-2003 academice year
that will guide future expansion or other policies affecting this
initiative.
Progress
as of August 2001
This initiative is in preliminary study stages. Types of high schools
will be restricted to private schools with established music programs
of high quality. Initial discussions have taken place with high
schools in four countries (Belgium, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, and Israel),
but no specific arrangements have been established. Overall goals
are: (1) assessing the viability of interacting with these individual
schools; (2) determining if there are similarities in their academic
philosophies and curricula; (3) determining what type of relationship
might be possible between these schools and Berklee; and, (4) considering
how these interactions might impact the present Berklee International
Network (BIN), which to this point does not include secondary schools.
